Inter laboratory tests for foundry sands

Many of the member company suppliers are registered BS EN ISO 9002 companies and thus have a commitment to supply Quality Assured materials.

Members of the Association are therefore committed to producing consistent sands which may be washed, graded and dried to customer specification.

All producers use their own process control laboratories to monitor and maintain the quality of their products and whilst all of the test methods are not undertaken continuously, the methods exist as standards if required. The test methods described in this area are those used by the producer industry and are recommended for foundry users as a basis for comparison.

This area of the website has been produced as a general reference with equipment manufacturers names omitted. The section on sampling has been greatly expanded to represent modern practice, to stress the importance of sampling to the whole process of testing and to emphasis that the test work results can only ever be as good as the sampling procedures undertaken to produce the sample.
